Another gimmick from MS but they have jumped numbers before. I
still prefer XP, Windows 8.1 can be really annoying, even with
the Classic shell add on.
PS Looks like Apple is loosing it as well, reading the last few
'Ops!' from Apple :o

Yes, XP remains very steady and secure, 7 seems to be the next
XP, it's the biggest OS in the world.
Love how you've described it as a "gimmick" ;D
And is that a reference to the bending iPhones? The press have
blown it out of proportion, only nine genuine cases have been
found worldwide and each replaced with a new problem-less iPhone
:) Also, the HTC M8 bends far more easily than the iPhones :D
The reason for the bending in Apple's case? They were hoping to
introduce a new generation of glass, difficult to break with
even a hammer, which would have strengthened the structure and
erased any issues. However, they didn't have enough 'resources'
for it to go in to mass production this year, so they let it go
ahead with the regular glass and thin (6.9mm) aluminum (soft
metal) case = risk of bending. I reckon they'll do something in
the next few weeks to strengthen the design before they continue
to manufacture more with this fault :D

I wasn't referring to this, as some of the tech sites have
shown, they are as strong as other manufacturers. I was thinking
more the total c o c k u p of the OS update.

Oh I knew about that :D
Didn't think it was too major as they quickly removed the update
(which was only bug fixes anyway) and released a new one within
a few days :)

Not being able to make a call and Touch ID not working due to
the update - I call that very major :o
My point being, that it shouldn't have been released in the
first place, no matter how many or few people were affected.
The v8.0.1 update also didn't fix the Wi-Fi and battery drain
bugs but I believe there were work rounds to these while Apple
continued to look for fixes.
This is the sort of thing you expect from MS not Apple. I hope
Apple haven't lost their way, I think they have been a great
benefit, pushing usability and styling forward :)

Ah, I see what you mean. I haven't updated to iOS8 as it
requires 5.8GB free storage, and a fast connection on top of
that, so I haven't had to go through any of the problems :D
I see Windows 10 introduces MS's own versions of features on OS
X for a few years - as you said, pushing usability and styling
forward :)
I think one thing that seems wrong with Windows 10 is the fact
that it's the same OS over smartphones, tablets and desktops.
Windows 8 was actually three: 8, 8RT (tablets) and Phone 8 - and
that had people complaining about the desktop version being too
similar to tablets - so what will Win10 be like with the SAME OS
this time round :o
