Six months and going strong!
By: Griff Grof Date: September 27, 2012, 9:40 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Well here we are - six months ago today on a dark February
evening this "new" forum was launched, bringing a new light to
our online home for CacheWalker. It's only six months, expect
more of a more official post on the one year anniversary, so
I'll keep this one short and say thank you to you all for your
suggestions and support to make this site even better. I have a
screen shot of the homepage from Day 1, and it looks so
different to how the site has evolved into today! Thank you also
to walktall and tarmacjohn for moderating, and to Altra for
offering support to our newer members. 44 members, and 2529
posts (and counting) - not bad at all ;D, nearly caught up with
the old forum which has 2856 posts :o
This six month-of-the-forum coincides nicely with CacheWalker
turning five, and so we thought this called for a site
celebration - The Weekly Poll has been a part of the site since
day 1, and every week we've kept a new one coming - so we
thought we'd use this as the theme, and it's our pleasure to
formally introduce....
The first [shadow=red, left]Week of the Weekly Poll[/shadow]
What is it?
A site event which runs every six months (aka every 30 polls)
What will happen?
The 30th Weekly Poll is up, along with several new polls. A new
poll will also be posted every day of the week. Plus a surprise
(not to do with polls!) coming very soon before the week ends!
What's the point in doing this? What is it for?
To celebrate the fact that we've kept a new poll coming every
week for six months! To also celebrate the site has been going
for that long. The Weekly Poll has been going since the moment
the site launched, and maybe this site wide event will also
encourage more people to join in every week. Also, this
site-wide event is to celebrate CacheWalker turning five in
general.
Can I help?
Yes please! PM me ideas for all sorts of polls - about
Geocaching, CacheWalker or anything else! It's not too late -
send the PM any time in the week!
So, thanks again, happy birthday CacheWalker, and get voting on
lots of polls!

The [shadow=red, left]Week of the Weekly Poll[/shadow] came to a
close yesterday!
Results were announced on each polls thread, so check them to
find out!
Some stats from the week: In total, over every poll running, 34
votes were cast ;D ;D Not only this but we also managed to
beat our previous Weekly Poll record of 5 votes with 6 votes on
the "System error" poll - thanks all for voting! Also, all the
polls were viewed over 100 times by members which is great!
I think the Week of the Weekly Poll was a bit of fun while it
lasted, celebrating six months of the forum and five years of
cachewalker along with it! Will we see another one run in 30
weeks/30 weekly polls/6 months time? Only time can tell - and
the result that comes out in this weeks current Weekly Poll - so
if you want it to have a chance of coming back (we do in admin
towers, but YOU all decide!) then vote HERE

Thank you all for taking part, and until the next one (?) The
Week of the Weekly Poll is all over, and going back to bed.
