| Hero vs. 101 Bad Villains RP | |
| By: Starflame Date: October 31, 2015, 8:32 pm | |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | |
| Clouds of smog rolled over the marsh where the once-proud tower | |
| had formerly stood, tainting the air with the grimy scent of mud | |
| and rotting earth. Faint lights flickered on and off in the | |
| gloom, pervading the area with a sense of eeriness, making it | |
| impossible for a traveller to follow any accurate path through | |
| the murk. | |
| Then, rising out of the smoke emerged a single stone. It jutted | |
| awkwardly, as if hurled there by a careless hand, lodged deep | |
| where stagnant water met with squelching land. Mists parted | |
| around it, revealing countless more bricks and stone, creating a | |
| tangled mess of debris to where the foundations remained. The | |
| first floor, the grand atrium, once polished to a gleam in the | |
| rising sun and now covered with grime and ivy, faint webbed | |
| cracks the only damage to this single standing level. | |
| A boom echoed throughout the swampy plain. With a hiss of steam | |
| and the cackle of demonic laughter, the great double doors swung | |
| open to what had once been the home of the Beacons of Hope. | |
| Villains had been busy since their nefarious traps had led the | |
| great tower to ruin. The immense entrance, nearly three stories | |
| high, had been transformed into a solid labyrinth. Winding | |
| passages, no more than a few yards wide, riddled the greatest | |
| portion of the room. Chipped, faded tiles along the floor gave | |
| hint to their former grandeur, still sparkling in odd places | |
| when caught by light from the torches hung in iron brackets | |
| along the wall. The ceiling, held in place by some arcane magic | |
| the villains had yet to undo, sloped up and down across the | |
| hallways. Here it would soar to the full height allowed, a few | |
| yards later it would dip to just enough space for someone to | |
| crawl through. | |
| At the four corners of the former atrium, however, the labyrinth | |
| ceased. Here, where the four pillars once stood proud, the | |
| villains made their bases and carried out their evil | |
| experiments. Initially, the four open spaces mirrored each | |
| other, the ancient magic of the pillars fighting to maintain | |
| their glory. Slowly, though, evil infused with the air, ground, | |
| and even pillars themselves, twisting each section into its own | |
| unique horror. | |
| Moving counterclockwise, the first section reached announced | |
| itself with a sudden drop, the floor bottoming out to form a | |
| deep, open pit. Here the ceiling swooped down low, forcing any | |
| who wanted to continue into the depths themselves. Light | |
| sparkled from below, soft and golden, but it illuminated space | |
| very briefly before being ripped away by blackness. Sheer cliffs | |
| marked the descent, smooth save for a lone rope ladder enabling | |
| the villains to work uninterrupted. Stalagmites jutted out from | |
| the floor of the pit, waist height yet deadly sharp, making it | |
| hard to move towards the deepening shadows unhindered. | |
| The former Pillar of Light, now corrupted by Darkness. | |
| Continuing onwards in the winding circle, the roof once more | |
| soared to its full height upon reaching the next open area. | |
| Strange gasses billowed near the ceiling as the splashing sounds | |
| of a gentle waterfall resonated down the corridors. Turning the | |
| corner revealed, not water, but a sickeningly green liquid, | |
| rushing from a high up ledge to form a bubbling pool, emitting | |
| an eerie glow. The pool spread to cover huge sections of the | |
| floor, islands and rock bridges protruding here and there to | |
| enable crossing. | |
| The former Pillar of Water, now corrupted by Poison. | |
| Onwards again, paths twisting along themselves, before the next | |
| section was revealed, barren of anything save a strange flat | |
| light, from which no shadow fell and no source could be | |
| detected. The walls of the opening seemed to bend away, as if | |
| straining under some great load. Peering closely, however, faint | |
| ruins could still be made out. Spots of floor burned away to | |
| hide the makings of a once beautiful mural, more skillfully set | |
| than any other. | |
| The former Pillar of Mastery, now corrupted by Failure. | |
| Completing the loop, now in the final corner of the floor, | |
| physics and reality seemed to vanish from the plane as the last | |
| area revealed itself. Chunks of floor and wall hung suspended | |
| midair, some fully motionless and others constantly whirling | |
| about, following no pattern as the ricocheted off floor and | |
| ceiling. A high pitched whine buzzed through the air, making it | |
| near impossible to concentrate in the vicinity. | |
| The former Pillar of Balance, now corrupted by Chaos itself. | |
| Long years had the villains toiled, each to their own devices, | |
| turning the once sacred home of honor and hope into a pit of | |
| despair. Now came the single breath of fresh air as the doors | |
| swung open, and a lone hero once more had the chance to reclaim | |
| the ruins for good. | |

| So this is the tower in the future is? That's a shame... how | |
| something that once stood as a mighty symbol fell to a symbol of | |
| lost. Everyone wouldn't be pleased with this revelation... | |
| though probably not as much compared to if they ever know the | |
| truth. | |
| No matter. This particular event can be prevented at the very | |
| least. Just need to get four items that would allow us to know | |
| what will happen. I know this place like the back of my hand so | |
| it should not be too long. Have to go back shortly though, | |
| otherwise I might not be able to get back. | |
| Though why is this place now a marsh? | |
| Ehh wait, what is that noise? Laughter? As soon as I began to | |
| comprehend the sound, the doors thrust open releasing dust and | |
| debris in its wake. It really lost all of its past glory... I | |
| can not wait though. I must move swiftly. I have to know what | |
| happened and prevent it from truly occurring. Quickly checking | |
| the spell power of my tome, I moved inside, ready to meet | |
| whatever was inside. | |

| Mr. Gustave was tranquilly taking a refreshing bath in the pool | |
| near the Pillar of Poison to refresh his delicate perfume when | |
| he smelled something most indecorous: a breath of fresh air. For | |
| any respectable cave troll, a terrible stench such as fresh air | |
| was the summum of vulgarity. The cave trolls are a people with | |
| taste: only the most refined marshes, darkness and smelly | |
| caverns suit their needs for a healthy environment. This breath | |
| of fresh air could only mean something possibly even more | |
| indecorous: an outsider. Possibly a traveller or a hero! | |
| Mr. Gustave rose from his lovely perfumed bath, grabbed his top | |
| hat and carefully put on his monocle, then got hold of his | |
| precious Pplcrusher and yelled, both at the attention of his | |
| fellow villains to arouse them and as a warning to the outsider: | |
| " MOOOOOOOOOOOST INDECOROUS!" | |

| Carfule... one more drop... almost there... | |
| " MOOOOOOOOOOOST INDECOROUS!" | |
| With a sudden flinch, the eyedroper jerked out of Dr.Snivels | |
| hand, sending a find mist of solution into the air, dyeing a few | |
| spots of the floor the same poisonous green as the former pillar | |
| of purity. With a loud oath, the doctor rounded on the | |
| horrid-smelling cave troll that had imposed himself for far too | |
| long. | |
| "YOOOU KNUCKLE HEAD! Why in the devil did you yell that AGAIN? I | |
| swear, one of these days I'm going to experiment on Y-" | |
| Snivel's rant was cut short, however, as with a loud trumpet, | |
| the wrinkled and graying trunk of an elephant sprouted from his | |
| own nose, waving about dramatically as if to add to the tirade. | |
| The trumpeting continued, though wordless, as the doctor | |
| continued to vent his anger at the creature nearest him. As the | |
| trunk whipped up high over his head, however, it caught a scent | |
| that freshened up even the odor of the troll. A cool, sweet | |
| breeze, as if the tower around him had admitted a faint sigh of | |
| longing. Someone had opened the great double doors between his | |
| lair and the outer world. | |
| The trunk curled, as if in anticipation, and beneath it Snivel's | |
| teeth spread wide in a crooked grin. With an in-elegant shove, | |
| he pushed himself up from the island where he had been sitting, | |
| running a hand down his lab coat as he did so to smooth away the | |
| creases. His black hair stood out dramatically from the green | |
| smog around him, and he let out a snorting laugh as he reclaimed | |
| his needle from his side, all six feet primed and ready to | |
| inject the various toxins stored within. | |
| A new plaything had arrived. The game could begin again. | |

| Baron Sin woke up in his favorite place, the ,now corrupted, | |
| pillar of light. | |
| The light had faded a long time ago and made place for a nice | |
| inky black darkness! | |
| He had been taking one of his many catnaps when he sensed | |
| something strange... something he hadnt sensed in a long time. | |
| A living being, untainted by corruption, something that hadnt | |
| been in this place for ages! | |
| He started to purr, I havent been able to play with something | |
| like that in quite a while, theyre so much more interesting | |
| than the occasional vurrman!, | |
| Of course there were the other inhabitants of the labyrinth but | |
| they were so. Dirty... dont they know that an occasional | |
| grooming is good for you? He shivered just thinking about that | |
| bunch and made a mental note to stay away from them. | |
| Baron Sin got up, stretches and sneaks his way to the entrance | |
| of the labyrinth, First I will observe and then... The hunt can | |
| begin., he thought as he merged with the shadows... | |

| " MOOOOOOOOOOOST INDECOROUS!" | |
| T-That is not saying anything at all! Why did it have to sound | |
| like something big? I tried to listen closely to pinpoint a | |
| sound of where it might be. Yet all I can think of is the | |
| general location. Spending no more time, I quickly went towards | |
| the opposite direction. This is meant to be quick. No time to | |
| pick on needless battles. Pulling up my tome a tad closer, I | |
| went deeper into the dark abyss that was the tower halls. Yet my | |
| previous thought of knowing the place well was completely wrong. | |
| It was too dark to differentiate a hallway from the another and, | |
| as I found out soon, the ceiling could become disastrously low | |
| where I can only crawl under it. Yet I also had to fight the | |
| urge of unlocking the magical energy in my tome as a bare source | |
| of light in order to minimize attention. I have to carefully | |
| feel, hear, and, much to my chagrin, smell my way across the | |
| hallways. Why do they send me duties such as this? Oh, that is | |
| right... | |
| So far, only one sound... yet who knew when that could change... | |

| "YOOOU KNUCKLE HEAD! Why in the devil did you yell that AGAIN? I | |
| swear, one of these days I'm going to experiment on Y-" | |
| Mr. Gustave looked at Dr. Snivel and tried to adopt the most | |
| distinguished possible look of polite annoyance, an expression | |
| he recalled well from the diplomat he once ambushed right before | |
| he splatted him with the Pplcrusher. "That, dear comrade, was | |
| u-u-unpolite", he managed, so bent on thinking distinguished | |
| words that he did not even realize that Dr. Snivel had smelled | |
| the intruder, too. "We trolls delicate, dear comrade," he kept | |
| on. "We trolls not like when dear comrades say u-u-unpolite | |
| things!" | |
| He finally realized that the evil doctor was readying itself for | |
| something. The only question was for what. Dinner? A nap? A lab | |
| report? "Think, think," Mr. Gustave told himself. "Why do Doctor | |
| grab needles with glass and perfumes in it?" It took him a good | |
| thirty seconds of intense thought to let loud: "Oooooooooooh! | |
| Dear comrade, you smelled intruder too! Decorous of you, dear | |
| comrade!" | |
| Very proud of his brilliant deduction, he raised the Pplcrusher. | |
| A fine tactician, Mr. Gustave was: he knew that in such cases, | |
| it was wise to subtly approach the intruder. He came to the | |
| conclusion that the subtlest thing to do in such a case would be | |
| a traditional charge. Without waiting for Dr. Snivel to answer | |
| his brilliant deduction, Mr. Gustave charged into the hallways, | |
| each of his steps making enough noise to wake up the dead. | |

| The troll thing was still talking, but the Doctor zoned him out, | |
| trunk flopping as he turned back and forth, scenting the air. He | |
| had better things to do than to pay attention to such a bumbling | |
| buffoon as the creature charged blindly through the labyrinth. | |
| It was likely to get itself killed by whatever supposed "hero" | |
| had set foot in their lair. | |
| Snivel scowled, trunk curling up tightly, his long white | |
| knuckles tightening about his needle as he considered the | |
| options. Beyond the troll, several other characters of various | |
| mental states inhabit the labyrinth. He had never bothered to | |
| learn all their names, (why bother to number those so far | |
| beneath you in aptitude?) but it was safe to assume that at | |
| least a handful would be within, and able to sense the intruders | |
| presence. A slow grin crossed the doctors face, revealing | |
| straight but yellowing teeth, as he slunk slowly into the maze | |
| of shadows behind the troll. | |
| When better to spring from the shadows and surprise an opponent, | |
| then when the distraction has already been provided? As long as | |
| his accursed mutation had faded by the time he reached the | |
| bellowing troll, there was no reason that Dr.Snivel couldn't | |
| lurk behind the battle scene, awaiting his chance to claim his | |
| next experiment. | |
