PREFACE/SUMMARY
This document (hereafter "THE METHODOLOGY") stipulates the
regulations pertaining to the learning and training process that
must be completed by candidates whose applications and
interviews have been favourably assessed in order to be
permanently employed within the Department of Corrections (this
process is hereafter termed "ACADEMY"). It is meant to be read
and applied in conjunction with the academy curriculum as these
two documents constitute the framework that instructors must use
to instill the understanding that will enable their cadets to
effectively employ fundamental skills and techniques in their
daily work.
The methodology is devised and updated by the leader of the
Training & Recruitment division, with the warden's approval.
Updates to its content or form are announced and their
feasibility is debated in advance.

Article 1.
(1) The methodology and the curriculum are the only documents
that govern the training program and address any and all issues
regarding it.
(2) Any documents or decisions that are not explicitly granted
scope or jurisdiction over the training program by the
methodology are null.
(3) As an exception to the rules stated by (1) and (2), the
warden may suspend the methodology and temporarily enforce an
arbitrary training regime.
Article 2.
(1) The methodology is devised and updated by the leader of the
Training & Recruitment division, with the warden's approval.
(2) As an addendum to (1), modification rights are strictly
limited to the leader of the Training & Recruitment division and
they may not be delegated to a third party.
Article 3.
(1) To ensure that the methodology meets the standards that
derive from the institutional nature of the Department of
Corrections, it may be subjected to analysis at the warden's
order.
(2) The analysis must be performed by a committee whose members
are appointed by the warden.
Article 4.
(1) The methodology is binding and it must be followed by all
instructors.
(2) Instructors who diverge from the assertion contained in (1)
will face disciplinary reprimand.
(3) In contrast, the curriculum serves to provide general
guidelines for instruction and it may be adapted to the cadets'
individual needs at the instructor's discretion.
Article 5.
(1) Academy sessions may be scheduled and headed exclusively by
members of the Training & Recruitment division.
(2) Academy sessions announced by unauthorised personnel are
null.
Article 6.
(1) Throughout academy, each cadet's progress is tracked and
referred to with the term "academy performance".
(2) The following variables are used to measure a cadet's
academy performance:
[li]Examination score[/li]
[li]Failure experience[/li]
[li]Average examination score[/li]
(3) The "failure experience" variable is dichotomous and may
have the following values:
[li]Yes[/li]
[li]No[/li]
(4) The "examination score" variable quantifies the score
obtained by the cadet on a module/unit examination.
(5) The "average examination score" variable refers to the
cadet's average score across all examinations.
(6) The minimum average examination score required to pass and
graduate is as follows:
[li]75%, if the failure experience variable of the cadet in
question is negative[/li]
[li]90%, if the failure experience variable of the cadet in
question is positive[/li]
Article 7.
(1) Cadets graduate in groups called "graduate batches".
(2) Cadets whose average examination scores don't meet the
minimum requirement are considered to have failed and may retake
the academy once with the approval of their respective
instructors.
(3) Double failure results in automatic and immediate dismissal
and a three-month ban from re-applying.
