@Chicago_NFL
The Chicago Bears currently have roughly $63 million to spend in
free agency beginning exactly 1 month - March 10th. With three
cuts, they will add another $12.5 million. #DaBears
- TE Gerald Everett ($5.5 mil)
- DE DeMarcus Walker ($5.25 mil)
- Jonathan Owens ($1.7 mil)
Two additional possible roster cuts could be G Ryan Bates ($4
mil) and Kevin Byard ($7 mil), but given how Poles invested in
them, they may stay - especially if the coaching staff deems
them a fit in the new schemes.
At some point this offseason, the #Bears need to work on
contract extensions with two players: CB Kyler Gordon and DT
Andrew Billings. Both are entering the final contract year and
are valued pieces on defense.

Still not sold on Poles- how many seasons did he want to get
Bates here and when he does he does very little.
How can a former O lineman be so bad at getting Olinemen ? I
think coaching will improve things to a point- but they also
need HEALTHY TALENT.
Poles is on the clock- he can be one of the best GMs the Bears
have had in the modern era or a complete bust if he fails Caleb
Williams......

That's the 2nd dumbest thing about Poles that pisses me off the
most behind the hiring and retaining the worst HC in the NFL.
The Chiefs OL struggled mightily in the SB against the Bucs.
Poles background is not only as a former OL. He was for all
intents and purposes the assistant GM when the Chiefs drafted
Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey which helped overhaul their line.
Johnson is now empowered in some ways above Poles to steer him
into the right direction when it comes to building the trenches
and Poles will just have to deal.
Perhaps the overall poor performance by the OL in the SB might
force Veach to keep Smith by opening their vaults or slap a
transition tag.

Who takes Walker's spot? Darrell Taylor and Jacob Martin are
free agents. Booker is still an unknown and a rotational guy
right now. Did I forget someone? Oh yeah, Dominique Robinson.
Let's see whats available in free agency and the draft, but
Walker has flexibility to go inside.
Jonathon Owens makes only $1.7M - and Brisker is coming off a
concussion that took him out a couple months.
Everett is the only legit backup TE. I'd still cut his a$$.
Bates was injured. It happens. He can compete at center and
fill in at guard.
Who takes Byard's spot? Hicks?

I would keep Walker, Owen and Bates.
I would cut the rest.
