Our chances of him falling to us are slim and none, but if
Konnor Griffin fell to our spot, Id write his name down with
zero hesitation.

My understanding is that the draft is weak overall, but how does
the Cubs current spot look?
Is it one of those years where you really want to be in top
5-10?
Or are teams in the middle of the first "happy" because there's
more depth than high-end talent?

The mock drafts I've seen seem to have the Cubs pick where there
is usually kind of a drop off. The Cubs have been more off the
public boards recently though.

Recent mock I saw said the Cubs were looking to go cheap with
their first pick. Shocked me to the bone.

With current leadership, I see no point in hoping for much.

Going cheap is a silly statement, since they always spend their
entire allotment, including the 5 percent overage, every year.
But it has been a pretty good strategy so far, Bringing us
Horton, Shaw and others in addition to Ferris (who we turned
into Busch) and a couple of others.

Law has them drafting Malcom Moore C, Stanford. He has some
impressive batted ball data similar to Shaw. He has also heard
them connected to Ryan Waldwchmidt, OF Kentucky and Christian
Moore. Both have high exit velocities and went 15 and 16 in his
mock. Malcom Moore is the name hes most frequently.

An excellent primary catcher would allow them the flexibility to
use Ballesteros as roster construction warranted.
