It's 7:15 pm Saturday night, January 5, and it looks like the |
|
birth of Lorelai's kittens is pretty close. Lorelai, for those |
|
who don't (yet) follow TinyKittens, was rescued from a hoarder |
|
along with her teenage daughter from her first litter, Rory. |
|
Thankfully, Rory isn't pregnant and will be spayed very soon. |
|
Moma Lorelai is close to birth, possibly tonight, and Shelly |
|
comes in and spends time with her. She will be there to help her |
|
through the birth because there is a risk of Neonatal |
|
Isoerythrolysis (fatal blood type mismatch). Shelly will blood |
|
type each kitten as soon as it is born; it is the only way to |
|
ensure the safety of each kitten. |

Yes, we now have Nelia's kittens (almost two weeks old) and as |
|
of the night before last, Serenity's kittens. I worry when I see |
|
Shelly's hand because Serenity hates the blanket over her face |
|
and I always fear she will lash out. But things do seem a bit |
|
better as Shelly has weighed the kittens at least twice now. |

It was amazing to watch Shelly spend all that time trying to |
|
trap the mom too. Did you know she is allergic to both cats and |
|
hay? Sniffling a bit tonight. And they now have names. The mom |
|
is Eternity; I adore her even though her look of terror makes me |
|
sad. I hope she comes around to love Shelly very soon. |
|
I think with Shelly's cats that makes a total of 27 in residence |
|
now. I hope the other kittens that are ready to go find great |
|
furever homes quickly. |
