| I attended a sold out theatre production this afternoon. Just | |
| before curtain, a woman came and took one of the last open | |
| seats, which was to my right. She said, "Hello," and I turned | |
| towards her and ... | |
| ... got a huge whiff of what smelled like cigarette smoke and | |
| urine. | |
| Nowhere to move to. | |
| Every time something happened on stage left (to my right) I had | |
| to take a deep breath before turning my head in her direction. | |
| :-\ | |

| I had some clam chowder at a fancy restaurant that is known for | |
| it. It came with clams in shells on top of the bowl. I ate some | |
| chowder, picked a couple of clams out of the shells, then picked | |
| up one that did NOT appear to have a clam inside, just a pile of | |
| black goop. Yuk. I spent that night sleeping fitfully, wondering | |
| if I would be sick. I wasn't, but I was certainly off my feed | |
| for about 24 hours just thinking about it. | |

| I never thought I would have anything to add to this thread, | |
| because I guess I am fairly successful at avoiding gross! But I | |
| got a Facebook message from a friend who had to go help repair a | |
| horse that gouged itself in the chest somehow, and she sent a | |
| picture of it! She's a ranch gal and it's everyday stuff for | |
| her, but us city gals on the group chat were all "ew!!!" (I do | |
| live in the country, but in the civilized part... LOL!) | |

| That reminds me of the day I spent at a Test Match: sitting next | |
| to a guy in a beautifully-ironed shirt... | |
| Which clearly hadn't been near a washing machine in a while. :o | |
| There's something about the smell of stale, ironed-in sweat that | |
| is particularly memorable*. ::) | |
| * We occasionally invited a solo player to join our quiz team | |
| (many moons ago); he also wore ironed-but-not-washed shirts. :-\ | |
| Used to make me so sad - having standards [ironing], but being | |
| so poor that he couldn't afford to eat sometimes [hence the not | |
| spending money at the laundrette]. At least we could order a | |
| few bowls of chips and let him "share" without offending him. | |
| [As in "lion's share".] | |

| But... one can always wash things in the sink! Women would, I | |
| don't know why men won't. | |

| I woke up in the middle of the night and needed to use the | |
| toilet. On my track to the bathroom, I stepped, full foot (for I | |
| have small feet), in cold, wet cat vomit. I continued on my | |
| journey hopping on one foot... | |

| It's amazing how the 'feeble'* female brain can come up with | |
| stuff like that and yet not overheat, isn't it? ;) | |
| * I studied too much Victorian history, I think; coupled with | |
| this being the 100th Anniversary of (some) women getting the | |
| vote in the UK, I think it may have made me snippier than | |
| necessary! | |

| I've reached the 'hacking cough' stage of my cold, now every | |
| cough is preceded by the 'do I have to pee?' question!! So far, | |
| the majority of coughs have been executed whilst on the loo, | |
| just in case! | |

| Our late cat Matt indisputably gave a rat's ass. | |
| Neatly laid out on the office rug. | |
| GOOOOD morning! | |
| Among his many other rodent trophies was a largish mouse, very | |
| creatively carved. Of COURSE my bare foot found it as I walked | |
| into that same office, early by my standards and semiconscious, | |
| second cup of coffee in hand. I'm not sure I can describe the | |
| cold and squish-slippery sensation, but when I looked down, my | |
| foot was precisely over the emptied middle of the mouse and I | |
| saw mouse forequarters on one side and mouse hindquarters on the | |
| other. A very badly-designed house shoe? A mousetrap where the | |
| trap was the mouse and I was the trappee? Matt must've bribed | |
| some lesser but precise god to pull that off. | |
| Oh, and pulling the de-parted mouse off was the second high | |
| point of the moment. | |
