A Return to Crafting

I've decided that I should rediscover some old hobbies. I just
finished my first piece. It was pretty simple cross stitch
pattern, but I'm jazzed up about doing more. When I was looking
for some new patterns online, I found diamond bead kits. They
weren't very expensive so I picked up a few. They look so neat.
I also picked up some embroidery patterns. Has anyone else
decided to go back to an old hobby?

Not so much rediscovering but finally having time to get back
into it: knitting and/or crocheting. I tend not to have time
during the summer months because I'm busy with gardening and
generally too tired in the evening to work on things. But now
that winter is here, I have more time. I have a couple of hats
I need to get done for a Christmas gathering on the 30th - if we
go ahead with it - and then my husband posted a pattern on
Facebook that he liked so I ordered the pattern. Moose
slippers, crocheted. I hope to have enough yarn in my stash to
make a few pairs as gifts and to sell.

I've spent the last two years on home improvement projects and
moving. I'm looking forward to having time now to craft more. I
want to get caught up on some scrapbooks, make some greeting
cards to have on hand and start sewing again.

I do too many crafts already, lol, but lately I have been having
the urge to revisit some of the crafts I used to do as a child.
Last year I made one of those "ice candles" for Christmas like I
remember doing in Girl Scouts. It turned out well. (You wash a
small square milk carton, fill it with crushed ice and thread a
wick in it, and pour melted colored wax over it. The ice melts
and you have a candle with artistic holes in it.) Next on my
list is a seed mosaic. I used to dye rice grains with food
coloring and snitch my mother's dried peas and navy beans, but I
think that as an adult I can afford better seed materials now.
;D
