Old Hobbies

I've had quite a few hobbies over my life. I've built up a
collection of books, tools, materials that I will probably never
use again because I've long since lost interest in the hobby or
sometimes because the materials/equipment/ etc. is now obsolete.
(Does that make them 'collectibles?')
Some of the things I know I can donate to Good Will. But, I'm
wondering if anyone else has faced this, "what do I do with all
this stuff now?" "Who will want it?" "What if I get interested
in this again?" etc.
I've thought of selling some on E-Bay, but, don't know if I can
handle the mailing and other technical aspects.

I was recently lucky enough to find a knitting group associated
with our public library system. They make a lot of things to
donate to local groups (hats and blankets for the homeless or
vets) and take "some" donations of yarn and knitting supplies.
It's really kind of neat....they have shelves full of supplies
that one can take home to make items to bring back to donate. I
was able to cull my overwhelming stock of regular worsted and
some of the specialty yarns. Through them, I found someone who
wanted my DD's stock of cotton yarn.
Okay....that's a long way around suggesting you find local
crafting groups that might have a need for supplies.

My daughter is in Salt Lake City and raves about a NFP store
that sells used craft supplies and fabrics. Last visit I packed
fabric, buttons, scrapbook paper etc. to donate to the store.
When I visited my son in Albany N. Y. I located, via the
internet, a similar NFP store that is in an enclosed porch of a
Victorian house. This one only accepts sewing, knitting, &
crochet items. There must be many more of these types of stores
tucked here and there.
Now to find a use for the plastic candy molds I haven't used in
years. They were mfg before recycling symbols were stamped on
things so that's not an option.
Besides crafting groups what about scout troops or small,
underfunded, Sunday Schools?
Don't underestimate what Good Will accepts. I have seen
sandwich bags of used stampers, markers, spools of thread,
handmade greeting cards.......

What does "NFP" stand for here? Google wasn't helping me.

There's a nonprofit store in Baltimore that takes donated craft
supplies to resell. It looks like they have a handful of
locations in the US (Ann Arbor, MI, Baltimore, MD, Richmond, VA,
Portland, OR)
https://baltimore.scrapcreativereuse.org
Depending on the materials you have, it's possible a teacher
could use them or maybe a community/senior center.

we have a local "free" group on FB, people can post what they
have or what they are looking for. Works great.
