Antique sewing machines

Hi all!
I have been given an antique sewing machine! A singer model 27
from what i can tell from the serial number. She's a treadle,
and I don't know if she's got all her parts (she's missing her
accessories i think) but I will fix her up when she gets here.
Any other brimstoners use antique machines to do everyday
sewing? My plans are to use her for cosplays, and making every
day clothing. Also hemming... lots of hemming...
Anyway, tell me what machines you have, how long they've been in
the family etc. I want to hear your stories!

I have a Singer 15-90 made around 1947. My MIL gave it to me a
few years ago. It's a portable electric. The original carrying
case is a little rickety, but holding together.
I replaced all the wiring and replaced the brushes in the motor
and regressed it.
I LOVE it. It didn't hesitate a bit through 3 denim quilts and
2 multi-layered flannel ones.

I have a 1923 Singer, my great grandmother bought it new. Mum
was a dressmaker & tried to get me to learn to sew but I never
had the patience. Dad repainted the stand years ago & added a
motor. Mum gave it to me a few years back. I started using it to
make cage liners & hammocks when we got rats again, Mum was
horrified but happy I was using it lol. It still has all its
parts, I need to repair the belt though to use the tredel & have
no clue how to use the button hole kit. It has been well looked
after & is in great condition.
Pictured is Ash & the Singer in 2016.

Okay Ash is ADORABLE. Also here's a place where you can see what
year/model your singer is so that you can get a replacement
parts as you need.

My antique is a Singer that was refurbished in 1951 when Mom
bought it. Its in a fold down table that must be MCM. A knee
pedal controls the electric motor. It was state of the art--not
only sewing forward but in reverse. The rubbery parts have
deteriorated to the point I have not used it in about a decade.
Its not a featherweight. I was offered $15.00 for it once.
Now it is in the living room covered with a floor length table
cloth to hold 3 generations of wedding albums and photos.

Thank you, Ash was my second heart rat, a very smart & special
boy. It looks like the belt broke at some stage and was stapled
on, or cut to remove & stapled back on so I can possibly do the
same. It has the original book with it too. I think I need to
get someone to come out and give it a good service, it gets used
once a month & I oil it before each use but wouldn't hurt to
have someone who knows what they're doing to give it a good look
over. That site is awesome, thanks again.

My grandmother had a treadle Singer.
Me, I have a 1984 Kenmore, one of the last to have all metal
parts.

Not antique, but vintage. I have my 1977 Kenmore 158.16600 that
I bought with my high school graduation. It's a workhorse and
could also be used as a boat anchor if the need arose.
