Single White Female Situation

First letter. While I liked Amy's answer, I thought it wasn't
complete, because the situation strikes me as creepy too.
What say ye?

Creepy on two levels.
Why does complainer have so many outfits that are so new they
are still for sale in stores allowing copy catter can buy same
items?
I'm used to stores turning over merchandise twice a year.
Also I don't understand why it's important to know they are in a
medical field unless they wear uniforms and then it's easy to
copy.
In this situation I would be inclined to start shopping at
vintage stores where clothes are one-of-a-kind.

I might consider swapping out my current clothes and developing
a new style, if she can afford it.
I would still mention that while some imitation is supposed to
flatter, she is taking it a bit far.
In addition, I would request to move desks. I'm assuming they
are in administrative roles.

I take from this that they have to deal with patients, who might
well assume that its some kind of staff uniform, or simply
mistake them for each other. Either way, it can lead to
confusion and embarrassment.
If the copycat colleague doesnt take hints that looking like
Tweedledum and Tweedledee isnt ideal, one option might be to
keep a striking (and hard-to-replicate) accessory in the office,
and whenever Colleague turns up in an identical outfit, say
Were identical again! Okay, which of us is going to have to
wear the pink pashmina today, so the patients can tell us apart?
Lets see; I wore it last Thursday, so today you have to wear
it - and really insist on it.

This letter showed up on Ask a Manager today. A member said they
read it on at least four different advice columns. I guess the
LW *really* want answers.

And from some of the responses on AAM, the same letter appeared
in Dear Prudie on Feb 1st. The OP was commenting on AAM (posting
as Red), and made a comment to the effect that with all these
similar letters, it seems that this is a common problem among
women in the work force. Some people pointed out that the
letters have identical wording and descriptions of what is
happening. Some also pointed out that duplicates sometimes
happen (a person may really, really want an answer), and there
is no shame in having done so. But pretending that they are
surprised that someone has a similar situation (when it is in
fact the exact same letter) made some people question the
validity of the letter overall.
I don't know about that, but why not just acknowledge it?

I'll have to go to the comments on AAM now, I totally missed
that she responded. Wow! That's strange to act like she doesn't
know anything about the other letters. Do you get a sense she
was embarrassed or are there some mental health concerns?

It was weird. She didn't have to post anything at all and kept
quiet. Nobody knows who she is. Why pretend they weren't the
same letter from her?
Although I laughed at the posters (above and in AAM) who joked
that it was the copycat coworker who sent in the duplicates.

I would just start getting more outlandish...add a scarf...then
add a broach...then a hat..etc then suddenly stop.
