Job Offer! |

I have posted here on and off about my employment woes. I spent |
|
about 8 months unemployed, and then the last 5 years |
|
underemployed, with only an annual contract and no |
|
predictability. |
|
Well! I just got a permanent job offer! Back in the DC area! At |
|
a decent (not fantastic, but decent) wage. It's actually at the |
|
top end of the salary band for the job. The nice thing is that |
|
it's a management position, in a new department, with real |
|
opportunities for growth. |
|
The only downside was that they wanted me to start in February. |
|
Well, today was the first day of this semester, so I'm now |
|
booked until May. I'm not skiving off at the last possible |
|
moment at my current place. They've been good and supportive to |
|
me. It would be nearly impossible to fill 4 classes at the last |
|
possible moment. They seemed OK with that, so I'm hoping it |
|
won't be an issue. |
|
They're sending me a contract to sign, but I'm pretty excited! |
|
It means moving halfway across the country AGAIN, but, well, I'm |
|
kinda excited to leave the midwest, since all of my family is on |
|
the east coast. |

But I'm excited! |

I feel you on the job woes. After several years, I'm finally in |
|
a great job that I love and pays really well for my area. I lost |
|
my job a few years ago, not because I was bad at my job, but |
|
because I was too good at it. I made too much money for my job |
|
tier and some idiot bean counter came in and told the person |
|
that be that the best way to cut like a million off our budget |
|
was too get rid of the people making the most... forget about |
|
things like productivity and actual job functions. |
|
🙄🙄🙄 I was livid pissed at the time, but |
|
now I think it was the best thing in the world. Plus, it was |
|
really kind of fun to run into my old HR person and getting to |
|
tell her I'm making more than twice what I did when I left there |
|
and that is my starting pay at my new job. 🤷😂 |
