Winning Entries!

Eight out of nine items winning a ribbon isn't bad, hey?! LOL!
Well, I count it really as seven because when yours is the only
entry in one category that's not really a win. But, you get the
ribbons anyway, and the small monetary prize that goes with it.
I won a total of $30 so I think that's $5 for firsts, $3 for
seconds, and $2 for thirds! There wasn't much competition in
most of the categories in the whole show, like only one to four
entries, except maybe the photos. Anyway, I will post each item
separately and tell you the tale. Plus, I won a door prize which
is a lovely crocheted and beaded vest. I will have to take a
picture of that too because it's really lovely!

This is the one that I thought won first, out of one, but now
that I am thinking back on it, there were more entries, they
just weren't pictures. The category was "design area under 10 x
12", and now I do remember seeing a couple more small items on
the table nearby!

This little wall hanging won second out of two. I was
disappointed because though the other was nice, I thought mine
was... more... something! I know, it's mine so that's what I am
going to think, but I didn't think to take a picture of it to
show you what I mean. Anyway, I assume hers took first because
really there was more quilting on it and that's what they're
being judged on.
This pattern belonged to my mom. She had been going to make it,
and I think she had planned on using western fabric too, but the
reason I did was sort of as a memorial to her. She used to make
vests for her co-workers for rodeo time here! What you can't see
is inside each vest, there's a stinkin' little pocket with a
tiny item inside!

This is my Jacob's Ladder quilt that I did as a challenge for my
other quilt group. We were supposed to give them away after, if
we wanted to, but I just had to keep it for a while longer as I
really like it! Then I decided to enter it and it got third out
of four. I am using the same fabrics in another quilt I am
working on right now.

I actually found something to enter in a non-quilting category -
pillowcases! These won second out of three. The white cuffs?
They are glow in the dark fabric!

This card I whipped up the morning of the day I had to take
everything in. Looks complicated, but really it's just cutting
on traced lines. It won third out of about six - I couldn't tell
how many of the cards were in this actual category as there were
a couple of categories side by side and they weren't demarked in
any way!

I had a hard time deciding which table runner to enter, and was
glad I went with this one - it won first out of three! It's not
a very good view as there are five snowflakes in a jagged row
(they don't go in a straight line) and so they had a hard time
deciding how to hang it.

My purse and matching wallet won first out of three as well!
Again not a great picture as they had it lying sideways on the
table.

And this one won first out of four! I was quite surprised as I
had thought there were going to be a lot of quilt entries. Many
people in our group said they would enter, and only a couple
did. So lucky me, because I just pulled this quilt off my bed on
the entry day, and put it in! Lucky I was washing the sheets so
I could remake the bed with a different quilt. (I need the
weight of them to get to sleep properly - I can totally see why
weighted blankets are a thing, but you can achieve the same
effect with, like, four or six quilts!)

And lastly, here's the vest that I won as a door prize. It's
made of rayon, and it has those small, tubular beads scattered
about. You can't see them very well. It's too small,
unfortunately, but I will hang on to it for a while and see if I
slim down enough to fit it! (I have been losing, slowly but
surely.) If not, then it will make a wonderful gift for someone.
