Question re Shell Jewelry Project

I just got a shipment of shells that are pre-bored for jewelry
but the outside of them is left somewhat natural and a little
rough on most. Would you paint them with nail polish to better
match the beads that will be on the necklace? These are the
Kissitty clam shells sold on Amazon (and they're a good deal)
and I will most likely put them on with glass beads that are
pearl-colored.
BTW, how do you upload photos?

Could you paint them with a semi-transparent, shimmer nail
polish, and then a clear topcoat? So that you could see the
detail in the shell, but so that the colours harmonise?
Re the photos: under the B button is a button to upload photos
[so between the B and the first smiley], but if it's like eHell,
you have to insert a hyperlink to a photo-hosting website
[between the sets of square brackets], so:
insert weblink here - but obviously the brackets will
be square (I can't do them square, as they will vanish).
I hope that helps, and really hope it doesn't come across as
patronising; that is not my intention. :-[
