I Used All Of Your Etiquette Advice!!!
By: DaDancingPsych Date: March 19, 2019, 11:01 am
---------------------------------------------------------
I belong to a Facebook group of professionals where we discuss
lots of different things. A woman is running a children's
program out of a church basement and has purchased various
specialized (and expensive) equipment to use for their
activities. She stores these things in the church during days
that she is not there. The church is now renting the space to a
similar program during the off days and that program's director
emailed the original one asking to use the specialized
equipment. For various reasons, the original director does not
want to loan out her equipment and she came to our group wanting
to develop a list of reasons beyond insurance that she could
cite for the denial.
In steps me (can I call myself the hero?) Without using our
lingo, I basically told her that "no" is a complete sentence and
that she should not JADE at all. I told her that my reply would
be "I am very sorry, but that is not going to be possible."
BAM!!! BMaB for the win! I did good, right? ;D Ok, I will get
over myself. But I just wanted to thank you all, because you
really provided the answer in this case!

She should probably keep an eye on her stuff, though. In all
likelihood, the other program might "borrow" the equipment
anyway.

This. Owner of the equipment needs to find a way to get her
stuff under lock and key.

It's like you were all there! ;D This was suggested multiple
times to the OP and I have to agree that it is a risk. (I do not
recall if she replied as to whether or not it was locked, but
hopefully she is doing this.)
