| Tank subframe bolts | |

| Anybody changed out the stock subframe bolts to the upgraded | |
| ones made by rally raid? Looks like a worthy $106 (for upper and | |
| lower) investment. Cant imagine being stranded on the trail cuz | |
| of one breaking. Sucks only one vendor sells them. :P | |

| I haven't read anything that suggests the tank bolts have been | |
| redesigned. That said, I wonder how blown out of proportion | |
| this issue is? I'm gonna leave it as is until the first valve | |
| check. That is, unless I go on the TAT before then. | |

| I don't think the issue is blown out of proportion necessarily. | |
| When I started researching the matter a little more, I felt | |
| swayed when they showed how the OEM bolts were cut. Anyone who's | |
| done a little wrenching can see the obvious problem, the point | |
| of max stress is where the thickest cut is. But, I suppose its | |
| really a matter of how much weight u put on the tail. I think I | |
| ride with about 10-15 lbs max, and I don't wanna try my luck | |
| with any more than that. Now I want to put a rotopax 2.0 gal | |
| cube and another soft bag on the back, so im gonna have to | |
| upgrade the bolts for sure before I do that. No big deal, $100 | |
| for some extra insurance, I'll take it. | |

| There is a guy in Serbia who sells them on ADVRider. His kit is | |
| a bit cheaper than RR and the design is a little different. | |

| I didn't have a chance to see 2014 model yet, but I believe that | |
| upper tank bolts are 100% same as on pre 2014 models. Lower | |
| mounting is same, except for longer bolt on exhaust side, | |
| because of new exhaust mounting point. | |

| Here is an update regarding the tank subframe bolts I purchased | |
| from Prerun. Prerun was nice to do business with. The shipment | |
| came a little faster than projected and I could track the | |
| package (at least when it was in Europe). The parts look very | |
| well made. Here is a picture of the parts: | |

| The plastic bushing fit well into the tank. This is a picture of | |
| my original bushings which are obviously deformed. The inner | |
| bolt was very loose, so I am lucky that I did not have any | |
| problems. The other alternative replacement bolts don't include | |
| new plastic bushings so I am glad I went with Prerun's design. | |

| All in all, I am happy with the mod. I am going on a 7 day | |
| camping trip with the bike in May so I will be carrying a lot of | |
| gear and extra fuel. This upgrade makes me feel more confident | |
| that the tank can handle the load now. | |
