We have a full League with 12 managers. Please welcome Craig and
LD to the league, as they will be co managing a team together.
Also, please welcome Eric (Springfield Chiefs) as he will be
assisting as a Assisting Commish. Welcome all to the 2024 FSCEN
NFL Contract League!!!
Below is the team spreadsheet in google if you need to look at
your rosters. You should still be able to view it, if not let me
know and I can invite you again.

Below is the schedule for the league written in pencil. If there
needs to be a change down the road, I will let you know. We
start things rolling on Sundays at 8AM CST.
Step 1 July 14 Entry Fee due
Step 2 July 28 Cuts and One Extension due
Step 3 August 4 Trading opens
Step 4 August 11 Rookie draft
Step 5 August 18 Regular NFL draft
Step 6 Dead period after drafts for a few days to get rosters
set, TBD
Step 7 September 1 WW opens (projected)
Step 8 September 5 first game of the NFL on TNF
I will post when a "step" begins and ends on the "Commish
Notess" on Yahoo and email you as well. Be sure to check your
junk mail folder for emails from Yahoo and if you get Yahoo
emails in your junk email, you will have to select those emails
as NOT JUNK so you can get future emails. Make sure you have
your best email entered on your team settings and select Yes to
all options Yahoo allows.
Also, be sure to the below website and post any cuts and your
one extension in your war room on the forum. I can work on
getting the Google Sheets updated. Updating the google sheets
and the yahoo team pages is extremely time consuming so I would
like to work on it a little at a time, instead of getting
everything in the same week. My team is basically finalized now
so it can be done early. If a player retires or gets hurt after
you post cuts and your extension, I will allow you to make
changes up to the extension due date of July 28. Remember,
contracts that expire in 2024 can be dropped now for no penalty.

Below is the Constitution I am always updating for you to look
at and read. We only have 4 IR spots and they can be used on
players on IR and designated as OUT (if yahoo allows you to put
a player on IR, it's a legal use of IR).

I will get Leaguesafe up and running and you should be getting
an email from League safe about paying for our league fee. It
will be cheaper to pay leaguesafe early. I will allow all
payment options one week prior to the payment deadline that will
open up credit card, debit card payments, etc.

Hi everyone,
We are considering changing how the draft works for the 2025
season and we want everyone's opinion on their preference. The
reason behind considering the change is as follows: Based on
how our contracts work, there is often a very large drop in
value between the first few picks and the rest of the draft.
Giving the same team the 1.1 in both drafts leads to a major
advantage. For example, in 2022 1.1 was able to draft CMC and
Breece Hall. Contrast that with the 1.6 were the value dropped
to Sutton and Jameson Williams.
We came up with a few options to mitigate this and wanted to lay
them out here and get everyone's thoughts.
1. Combine the rookie and regular draft into 1 draft. if you
take a rookie in the draft, they get a rookie contract. If you
draft a returning player then you can decide how to contract
them as we do now. With this model you could take as many or as
few rookies as you would like. We could cap the rookies that
are picked in this option to three using 4 year contracts on
them and then still allow managers to draft rookies, but would
have to assign on of their 2 or 3 year contracts on them instead
of a 4 year.
2. This one takes a bit more explanation, but is relatively
simple once explained. With this option we would have a
pre-draft sometime in the offseason to select the order of the
two drafts. The person who picks first could decide whether
they wanted 1.1 in the rookie draft or the regular draft. So
for the 2024 draft, VA league winners would have the first
choice and could either select the 1.1/2.1/3.1 rookie or the
first spot in the regular draft. If VA took the 1.1 rookie
spot, then the next person (in this case NY Vod Kanonkers) would
go next and could select either 1.2/2.2/3.2 rookie picks or
first slot in the regular draft. If they took 1.1 regular,
then, as the 3rd pick in the pre-draft, BCB would have the
choice of either 1.2/2.2/3.2 rookie or 1.2 regular and so on.
The only caveat would be that you had to end the 2 round
pre-draft with one pick from each draft, so if you took a rookie
pick in the first round of the pre-draft, you would have to take
a regular pick in the 2nd round.
3. Another solution could be to have the draft order , like we
use now, for the rookie draft, then reverse the 6 to 1 picks for
the main draft. This will allow the bottom 6 teams to still
have the first 6 picks.
Rookie 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11,12
Main 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
4. Keep things as is.

I want to point out one thing before voting...this year's main
draft is particularly sparse for a clear reason. four years ago
we had one season in which the rookie contracts were changed
from 4 to 5 years. That change only lasted for one season. The
result is this year there are no expiring rookie contracts.
However, next year there will be two classes of expiring rookie
contracts, so next year's main draft will be relatively stacked.
That being said, I vote for option one that combines the rookie
and main drafts. I am in a league that did this and it worked
out great. Some teams that are in "win-now" mode were able to
go heavy on vets and teams building for the future could get
more rookies. I would suggest that the first 36 rookie to be
picked get 4-year contracts, and no more. That way it would be
the same number of rookies that could be on those longer
contracts. After that, I think it would be fine if players were
able to use their 3- or 2- year contracts on rookies.
There is one problem with switching to a new system next season.
I have already traded for Springfield Chief's first round
rookie pick for next season. It if not clear what that would be
if we combine the two drafts, or choose another of the new
options. For this reason, and the fact that next year's main
draft will have plenty of talent available, I think we should
implement any new draft system starting in 2026.

I would be happy with either option 1 or 2. Llama, thanks for
pointing out about the issue with starting next year, I agree
that any change would have to be implemented in 2026 since some
2025 picks have already been traded and it would affect those
values.
Anyone else have any thoughts?

I really like option 1 and agree it should be out another year
especially since next years regular draft will be stacked.

I would vote for option 1 as well as holding off til 2026 based
on Llamas explanation.

I�m good with 1 or 3
If it�s 1 I�d like to see a limit of 3 rookie contracts for each
team. They can still use their other contracts on extra rookies
(which we do still allow now too).
I also understand how changing to 1 could have a big effect on
trading of future picks so implementing it in 2026 would
probably be best.
