WIZARD'S BEGINNING ATTRIBUTES SHOULD BE STR-10, DEX-10, INT-25 AND WIS-5. THE
CLERIC'S SHOULD BE STR-10, DEX-10, INT-5 AND WIS-25. THE TWO RANGERS SHOULD
HAVE STR-15, DEX-15, INT-10 AND WIS-10.
STARTING OUT:

BUILD UP YOUR CHARACTERS UP TO 500 HIT POINTS EACH BY FIGHTING MONSTERS. HAVE
THE CLERIC CAST PONTORIS (A) ON SKELETON-LIKE CREATURES AND HAVE THE WIZARD
CAST REPONDS (A) ON ANY ORC-LIKE MONSTERS. ON MORE POWERFUL MONSTERS, HAVE THE
WIZARD CAST MITTARS (B) AND THE CLERIC HEAL SPELLS (C) ON THE FIGHTERS. WHEN
THE CLERIC AND WIZARD HAVE USED UP THEIR SPELL POINTS, MOVE THEM UP TO HELP IN
COMBAT. WHEN THE FIGHT'S OVER, HAVE THE CLERIC OPEN THE CHEST WITH A (B)
SPELL.
SOON YOU SHOULD HAVE ENOUGH GOLD TO BUY MORE FOOD, BETTER WEAPONS AND BETTER
ARMOR. GO TO THE TOWN NEXT TO LORD BRITISH'S CASTLE. IN THE UPPER RIGHT IS
THE ARMOR & WEAPON STORES, AND BELOW THAT IS THE FOOD MERCHANT. WHEN
CHARACTERS GAIN LEVELS, GO TO LORD BRITISH'S CASTLE AND TRANSACT WITH THE KING.
HE WILL BOOST YOUR MAXIMUM HIT POINTS. THEN HAVE YOUR CLERIC CAST HEAL SPELLS
OR GO TO THE HEALER IN THE CASTLE (UPPER RIGHT) AND GIVE HIM 200 GOLD FOR A
HEALING. WHEN ALL YOUR CHARACTERS HAVE 500 HIT POINTS, YOU ARE READY TO BEGIN
THE REAL QUEST FOR EXODUS.
THE NEXT SHIP THAT YOU SEE YOU SHOULD ATTACK. SNEAK UP AT AN ANGLE, SO THAT
HE ONLY HITS YOU ONCE OR TWICE. THEN KILL THE THIEVES ON THE SHIP. BOARD THE
SHIP AND SAIL TO THE UPPER LEFT WHERE THERE IS A TOWN, THE ONLY TOWN THAT SELLS
GEMS, TORCHES, POWDER AND KEYS. YOU SHOULD BUY ONLY TORCHES RIGHT NOW. GO
BACK TO THE BAY OF LORD BRITISH'S CASTLE, AND X-IT YOUR SHIP. HEAD OVER TO THE
EAST ABOUT 10-15 BLOCKS, AND GO UP INTO THE DEEP FOREST THERE. YOU WILL FIND A
DUNGEON. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT DUNGEON, AS IT IS WHERE YOU MUST OBTAIN
TWO MARKS. NOW WE SHALL GET THE MARK OF KINGS. SAVE GAME, AND ENTER THE
DUNGEON. (I)GNITE A TORCH, AND WANDER AROUND ON THE FIRST LEVEL, DESTROYING
MONSTERS IF NECESSARY. SOON YOU SHOULD FIND A "HOT ROD". HAVE ALL FOUR
PLAYERS TOUCH IT, AND CHECK THEIR (Z)TATUSES. IT SHOULD SAY "MARK OF KINGS".
NOW EITHER CAST AN UP LADDER SPELL (WIZARD OR CLERIC "E") OR FIND THE LADDER
YOU CAME DOWN IN. FROM NOW ON, YOU CHARACTERS HAVE A MAXIMUM OF 2500 HIT
POINTS. THE CHOICE OF WHAT TO DO NEXT IS YOURS. I WILL LIST THE NECESSARY
THINGS TO DO, AND YOU MAY COMPLETE THEM IN ANY ORDER.
THE OTHER MARKS

THE OTHER MARKS ARE HARDER TO GET THAN THE MARK OF KINGS. BE SURE THAT YOU
HAVE AT LEAST 5000 COMBINED HIT POINTS BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO GET THE MARK OF
SNAKES. IT ALSO HELPS TO HAVE SEVERAL GEMS AND POWDERS. GEMS GIVE YOU A MAP
OF THE DUNGEON; THE "?" INDICATES EITHER A CHEST, A GREMLIN, A STRANGE WIND, A
FOUNTAIN, OR A MARK. POWDER FREEZES THE ENEMIES FOR YOU TO ATTACK THEM AT YOUR
LEISURE. JUST (N)EGATE TIME. GEMS ARE USED BY THE (P)EER THROUGH GEM COMMAND.

THE WHIRLPOOL

THE WHIRLPOOL DOES NOT KILL YOU BUT DRAGS YOU DOWN TO ANOTHER CONTINENT
UNHARMED AND FULLY EQUIPPED. YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE AT LEAST 1000 GOLD AND 5000
COMBINED HIT POINTS THOUGH, BECAUSE YOU MUST FIGHT A FEW EXTREMELY DANGEROUS
MONSTERS. OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO HAVE ARE A FEW GEMS AND AT LEAST 5 KEYS.
THE GEMS WILL SPEED YOUR LOOKING FOR THE SHRINES WHILE THE KEYS ARE NECESSARY
TO GET IN SOME OF THE SHRINES. YOU WILL FIRST APPEAR NEXT TO A LARGE LAKE WITH
A WHIRLPOOL IN THE CENTER. TO RETURN TO SOSARIA, HIJACK A SHIP AND RE-ENTER
THE WHIRLPOOL.
THE SHRINES

THERE ARE FOUR SHRINES; TWO TO YOUR LEFT AND TWO TO YOUR RIGHT. EACH ONE IS
MORE THAN AN ATTRIBUTE-BOOSTER; "SEARCH" ON TOP OF THEM AND YOU WILL FIND A
DIFFERENT CARD FOR EACH SHRINE. BY OFFERING GOLD * 100 TO THEM THEY WILL BOOST
YOUR ATTRIBUTES CONSIDERABLY. HERE IS WHERE THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE:
SHRINE OF DEXTERITY - BOTTOM RIGHT; YOU MUST GET A SHIP FIRST TO GET TO IT
THOUGH. ONCE YOU DO, FIND THE PATCHES OF DARK FOREST ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT AND
ENTER THE LEFT ONE.
SHRINE OF STRENGTH - BOTTOM LEFT; ENTER AT THE TOP LEFT AND MOVE UNTIL YOU FIND
THE MANES. KILL IT; THEN GET READY TO FIGHT TWO WILD HORSES. KILL THEM AND
CONTINUE DOWNWARD.
SHRINE OF INTELLIGENCE - UPPER LEFT; YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE SMART TO FIND THIS

SHOTS AT YOU, BUT AFTER THEM THERE ARE ONLY FIVE MORE MONSTERS : FLOORS. AFTER
GOING THROUGH THE FORCE FIELD AND FIRE, <PASS> UNTIL YOU HAVE MAXIMUM SPELL
POINTS. THE FLOORS WILL ATTACK FIVE GROUPS IN A ROW. HAVE ALL CAPABLE CAST
MITTARS NORTH, THEN FORM A ROW AND WAIT FOR THE FLOORS TO ATTACK. THEN KILL
THEM WITH HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT. WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN KILLED, GO UP TO THE
LEFTMOST SECTION OF COMPUTER AND USE (O)THER TO INSERT THE CARD OF LOVE. MOVE
TO THE NEXT SQUARE AND INSERT THE CARD OF SOL. MOVE TO THE NEXT SQUARE AND
INSERT THE CARD OF MOONS. MOVE TO THE LAST SQUARE AND INSERT THE CARD OF DEATH
(DEATH TO EXODUS, NOT TO YOU!). BOOM! EXODUS IS PERMANENTLY CRASHED.
