These are some classic 8-bit text adventures that I found on some of my
old C64 disks while going through stuff to run with an emulator. I revised
the save-game features to allow more than one save position and to use
disk instead of tape. They run laboriously slow in BASIC, so I took the
time to compile them with an old compiler called Blitz! I had no problems
running these on the C64S emulator for the PC.
In order to keep file management simple for anyone downloading these to
an actual C64/128, I've bundled the original basic source separately in
an .LZH file (using lh1 compression for compatibility). The C64 source
ends with the .CBM suffix. In addition there is an ASCII text file listing
ending with the .BAS suffix for anyone who may want to port these to
Q-BASIC or some other BASIC format.
Look in if-archive/download-tools/c64 for a program called lhx64.sfx if
you want to extract .LZH files on a 64. Also note that any .SFX file for
the 64/128 can be accessed with LHA as SFX is merely a CBM version of LZH
self-extracting archives.
If you have any questions on these adventures (I've solved a few of them)
or on SFX files, feel free to write me at
[email protected].
