This is my first gopher post!
Here is the date so if for later reference: 2023-09-02

I have been following people on mastodon that use
gopher.  Now I'm trying it out.

The latest push was seeing the #100daystooffload challenge.

I'm so scatterbrained that I need some kinds of synergies
to get things done, or even move forward.

What that means is I have a kazillion things that are on
my todo list.  When something on the list scratches more than
one itch it's much more likely that I can engage in it for
any period of time.

#100daystooffload is good because it's a few things to me:
- small web
- NOT http based
- text based (these are different to me)
- I have been wanting to write more, and some form of blogging
 is usually on the list.
- small tech.  I love retro, simple, tech things.

I'll end with a quick tech breakdown of this gopher server.

It's running on a OpenBSD VM at one of the main discrete
virtualization providers.  (linode, digital-ocean, vultr,
openbsd-amsterdan)

The server software is gophernicus.

I used the pkg-readme:
/usr/local/share/doc/pkg-readmes/gophernicus

I am NOT using -nu so I can have user gophers. (this one)

The host option cannot use quotes.  This is weird, but
if I do:
-h "g.d34d.net"
it won't work, but:
-h g.d34d.net
does work.

ok bye!
