Subject: Booter 0.20
Announcing the latest release of the Linux/Mac68k booter:
ftp://rpelkey.bates.edu/pub/linux-mac68k/booter-0.20.sit.bin
Also coming soon to ftp.uk.linux.org (check /pub/incoming for now).
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the booter now works - I've tested modified
versions of Alan's July 4 kernel and Michael's modified kernel on a IIcx,
Duo 230, and Performa 460, and everything seems to work normally. Of
course, your mileage may vary.
To use the booter, you'll need to modify your kernel to accept parameters
in the standard 68K Linux format using the boot_info structure, rather
than using the registers and "environment variables" in the MacBSD
fashion. Two patches containing the necessary modifications are included
for your convenience: one to make the necessary changes to Alan's July 4
sources, and another to make the changes to Michael's modified edition of
the July 4 sources. Both produce an "AC-DC" kernel capable or booting
from both the Linux booter and the MacBSD booter (the MacBSD functionality
is untested, however - I've had difficulty cross-compiling a.out kernels).
Have fun - feedback and bug reports are welcome!
Rob
