ANNOUNCING SGMLS.pm: A Post-Processor for SGMLS and NSGMLS
Version 1.01
12 August 1995
************************************************************************
I am happy to announce the release of the second version of SGMLS.pm
and the related libraries and utilities. This release consists mainly
of bug-fixes, all of which are listed in the ChangeLog files. Two
noticable changes, however, are the ability to use element names
containing dashes with sgmlspl.pl (in fact, they can contain anything
now), and the presence of extra, commented-out default handlers at the
end of the code generated by skel.pl. I have fixed the documentation
conversion programs so that they now work nicely with NSGMLS, at least
on my machine, and I have made minor corrections to the documentation
(which is available online through my home page, listed below).
========================================================================
(Here follows the original announcement:)
Since the beta-testers have reported no serious bugs, I am now
announcing the official release of SGMLSpm, a free perl5
object-oriented postprocessor for James Clark's SGMLS and NSGMLS
parsers. The main part of this release is a library, SGMLS.pm, which
repackages the ESIS output of (N)SGMLS into perl5 objects. On top of
this, I have built a script, sgmls.pl, for formatting or processing
SGML documents quickly using event patterns.
Like CoST (which is several times slower), and unlike QWERTZ (etc.),
SGMLSpm is a general-purpose package which can be used with any DTD.
It even includes a script, skel.pl, which will write a skeleton
conversion script for your document automatically!
For more information, please see my <a
href="
http://www.uottawa.ca/~dmeggins/Index.html">home page</a>, or
download the package from
ftp://aix1.uottawa.ca/pub/dmeggins/. I
check my e-mail only two or three days a week over the summer, but I
will answer questions if and when I have the chance. Good luck, and
enjoy!
David
