This letter affirms Nortel Networks Corporation (Nortel Networks) position
with respect to patents associated with IETF standards.

Individuals employed by Nortel Networks are involved periodically in various
working groups of the IETF.  As a backdrop to any and all such activities,
and in accordance with RFC 2026, Nortel Networks wishes to make the
following statement:

"Nortel Networks may seek patent protection on technology described in a
document which Nortel Networks contributes for use in IETF standards
discussions.  In relation to any IETF standard incorporating any such
technology, Nortel Networks hereby agrees to license on fair, reasonable,
reciprocal and non-discriminatory terms, any patent claims it owns covering
such technology, solely to the extent such technology is essential to comply
with such standard."
