dojoe made something during Revision 2022 :D
We had this Game Frame at the studio, a nice little animation
player that plays pixel animations on 16x16 RGB LEDs. Turns out
you can put your own animations on there on a MicroSD card - each
animation is just a bunch of numbered BMP files in a directory.
So 16x16... that's just the size of a Pouet avatar! Fast forward
a few hours, and now there's a tool that converts animated GIFs
into the right format, a selection of avatars that I liked, look
good on the Game Frame and didn't cause the tool to bug out for
some reason, and three custom animations of the Revision logo.
Installation:
If you happen to own a Game Frame, just run gif2gf.py to convert
the animations, or even simpler, copy the content of the shipped
"out" directory onto the SD card of your Game Frame. If you want
different avatars, change them out in the gifs directory before
running the tool. The only dependency other than the Python
standard library is Pillow.
