it is 1.1.2015. at 21 i went for a run. while listening to some 2010's
retrofuturistic 80's music, i had an idea. for a couple of days i had
been talking with carnifex / damones. he was the sysop of dying degree
bbs and i was co-sysoping the system. we talked about boards and soon
to be vintage hardware.
while running, all these recent talks were being processed by my mind.
and the headphones were pumping this neon colored 1980's inspired
electronic music. then i had to admit to myself that an idea had
formed in my head. the idea was minimalism, with hints of some pseudo
futuristic looks.
came home. removed the running shoes and jacket. opened a beer. sat in
front of a screen. and started to craft some character formations
following the vision i had in my head. the outcome is this little
file with this "inverse italic" stuff made by yours truly.
there is a chance that i unintentionally ended up ripping someone. but
i really can't remember seeing stuff like this ever. so, less worrying
and more intuitive keyboard bashing. if some sharp eyed monster comes
to say, that i've been stealing, i'll just say this colly is a fake.
now, the work has been started. so far i have made 6 logos and there
are still several characters that i haven't decided how i will be
drawing in this style. and will i have the courage to release this
colly. the coming weeks will tell that. at least at the moment i feel
excited about working on this new kind of stuff.

ok. now i know where this went. i've been typing and
removing things all the time. been reminding myself
that my original vision was minimalism.
it is a schizophrenic feeling, when you're doing an
ascii colly in 2015 and you're wanting to try a new
thing. and at the same time you have this thought of
scene worthly ascii art, that it has to fit at least
into some kind of frame.
at the end i am a bit confused did i wuss out at
some point and not go far enough. no matter what, it
was, once again, an interesting trip to get to a
colly into a release ready state.
the ending became a bit rushed, as i'll be having a
vacation. couldn't leave this dangling, because there
is the possibility i wouldn't find the motivation to
finish this after all.
year 2o14 wasn't completely silent for me, as i did
one cp437 piece for break pack #5. i think the last
time before that i tried doodling any "pc ascii" was
around 1994. it was guite fun and different kind of
exercise, so afterwards i've been occasionally
doodling some more for my own pleasure. drawing ascii
is its own kind of relaxation for an adult mind.
it seems like this is going to be the first amiga
ascii release for year 2o15. apparently break managed
to push out pack #6 before "mnmlsm". some nice pieces
in there. check it out, if you haven't already.
