Hello Gophers!

I crashed... hard... I woke up this morning at 05:45 as my first meeting of the
day was going to be at 07:00 and I have to get ready and do my commute... But I
did not feel well at all. I had a strong pain in my neck, and a headache. And I
was so tired. Work has been brutal the last year. Too much work and not enough
people to do the work...

I felt so bad, that I finally decided not to go to work today and called in sick.
My manager was understanding, luckily, as he has seen me work in the last few
months under this heavy load. It's good to live in a country where things like
that are possible, and managers actually look out for their people.

It's been a good day... I have slept most of it, and did not look at my tele-
phone for work email all day. Also there was a church thing this evening that
I had to attend, and I cancelled that as well. It felt as if I had my life back
suddenly. The weather was very nice and I am actually typing this in my back
yard enjoying the balmy evening.

Why do we feel that we need to go all-out all the time for the company? Why
can't I say "Enough!" more often? Was this way of looking at it instilled in us
when we were kids?

I really need to learn that we do not live to work, and that we instead need to
figure out how to work to live. But that is a hard lesson to learn, and conse-
quences could come from it (like a lower wage....). Also, I have learned that
no matter how much my head tells me a logical truth, this does not mean that
my mind or heart really believes this. It takes so much time to teach yourself
a new truth that you really have to learn.

Anyway, this weekend will be all about recovering. Writing this phlog entry is
one of the actions I do in that process, and writing about it certainly helps.
Also if I fall into the same trap again, I will have my own writing to remind
myself. Maybe I will learn like this to take things more lightly and not worry
so much.

Anyway, If you have made it through my ramblings until here, have a nice
weekend, and.... do not worry too much!

Cheers,

Fripster
