Hello Gophers!

Politics... a very contentious subject. Before you know you're in the midst of
a flamewar, when all you wanted is to just share some thoughts... It's strange.
People react very strongly when the subject of politics is brought up or comes
along during parties, get-togethers and gatherings. So I'm a bit weary to write
something about politics here...

But anyway, I have some thoughts about it that I want to write down:

I think that well-balanced, normal politicians will never get enough attention
in a democracy. When you have a message that contains the necessary nuance, you
simply do not get heard. Nowadays, only extreme politicians (both sides of the
spectrum) get heard, followed and chosen. I find that exceedingly odd.

To me it seems that both the "Right" and the "Left" (for as far as those still
exist, that is) have valid points to make, but neither has the full solution.

On one hand, I am of the opinion that everyone in the world has to take respon-
sibility for their own lives: Work, Earn money, Live from that money. Make sure
you establish and support yourself and your family if you have one. This is what
right-wing people are about

On the other hand. If you really tried the above (and have something to show for
it) but you failed, then you should be properly and humanely supported by all
others. So when you really need it, you should not be left to your own devices.
That is a thorough Christian standpoint, and also seen as leftist by many.

The two can live together in a good society, I think, but you do not see this
balanced idea in politics. People just don't believe in this kind of balanced
approach.

I really wonder why that is....

Any comments, drop me an email!

Cheers,

Fripster
