I think the fact that they ended it after that speaks volumes
about the desire to tell a good story and leave on a good note
rather than continue just because it's popular...

Heros - to me, the first season was one long story and was GREAT.
After that I watched it, but it just never held up for me...

then and really enjoyed them! Great stories being told!
