Ha!  I don't know about that, actually.  I've seen
no evidence that a mainframe beats a modern MP Xeon
with a fast IO system.  A couple of PCI root
complexes and NVMe with two or more 12-core Xeons
packages, DDR4 and 100Mbps into the backplane is
pretty darn zippy.

Then again, that'd probably cost more than a used
mainframe....
