I don't know enough about the specifics, but I can say that they have a 486
core the MiSTer now. Simulating the 486 accurately has been hard, so it's
basically a slow 486 with lots and lots of cache to help speed it up. Does
support a virtual serial port.

I'd call it an alpha release, personally. Promising but not ready for prime
time yet.
