Not a BBS sysop here, but since I have helped deploy some, let's say, non
popular
services, my take is this:
I like setting things up. And when something in IT is properly built, it is
close to
zero maintenance, so that means I am always building stuff and piling it up in
the
background.
Once something has been built I lose interest in it because I have already
built it,
but as long as it can run by itself with minimal intervention I an keep it
online. Or
pass it over to somebody who really wants to fiddle with it.
