My social circle was all over the place.  I entertained a whole group of
friends and associates simply to ensure I knew what was going on.  I partied.
I drank.  I screwed around with too many girls.  Yet, I remained who I am.  I
was a nerd then or however you want to call it.  People knew I loved working on
computers and electronics but still kept me around... maybe for comic relief or
to find out about everyone else.

Life ... during high school ... is a strange time for everyone.
