UNIX & DOS - back when we were younger, you were considered a nerd.

Windows & MacOS - helped bring in more people and normalize home computers.

If it wasn't for the adoption of newer technology, I believe we would still be
in the tech darkages.  You're completely right, though.  As more people get
online, the more we invite a less intelligent populace onto the platforms.
Making it easy made it simple for everyone.
