Well... because that data is worth so much to them. Because we are just used,
for it. Because they use that data, to create new products [services,
usually... sales at other times.] to suck more our societies time, energy and
ultimately money.
During covid, the 10 richest folks in the world have gained multiples of 2x
their net worth. This one asian 0.94 billionairre is worth like 50B today, one
year later.
I guess the main reason I'm against it all is the insane wealth inequality -
but don't want to sound like a talking head. Thats some of the reason I was
posting about the internet inventor guy who was wanting to 'pitch a new
internet'... these riches shouldn't be in the hands of those who get it from
US.
I mean... great job for what they DID with tech - but I think its time the
people start backing things that will serve US, and not a literal handful of
tech CEOs in California...
WE can change; FB [whatsapp, other services with TOS's that lock in their
success and our giving them the keys to the castle.] isn't the answer.
