What everybody is doing is building phones based on Replicant or Lineageos.

They don't fare well because they lack Google integration. That means lots of
business apps won't work. You can install Google cruft on it but that defeats
the point imo.

Last time I set a Lineageos phone, I lost it. My fav mare found it in the
pasture and decided to play soccer with it. RIP phone.
