That is because Apple's business is pandering to computer illiterates that
believe they know about computers. There are lots of Apple users who know what
they are doing but they are not the largest demographic target for them.
It is in their best interest to let users do as little as possible with their
products, as to be able to force them to pay more if they want to purchase more
capabilities, and reduce customer support overload from fools.
As with Ubuntu, I have seen enough iOS bugs that are not worthy of a system for
computer illiterates to believe they are better systems for computer
illiterates than other alternatives.
But that is not the point. The point is that Apple considers its users unworthy
of using software not aproved by them. This is a LARGE drawback, of the sort
that may seem fine today but may get bad tomorrow.
The realistic alternative for business is Android, which is just barely better
and has its own pile of shortcommings. Sure, you can run custom firmware (which
are fucking awesome), but then banking apps and some messaging systems that are
a must-have for business just won't work for you.
It only gets more Cyberpunk than that if it comes with computer implants.
