MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

     Title: Creamy Caramels
Categories: Five, Candy, Dairy
     Yield: 64 servings

     1    Teaspoon+ 1 c  butter;
          - divided
     1 c  Sugar
     1 c  Dark corn syrup
    14 oz Can sweetened condensed
          - milk
     1 ts Vanilla extract

 Line an 8" square pan with foil; grease the foil with 1
 teaspoon butter.

 In a large heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup and
 remaining 1 cup butter; bring to a boil over medium
 heat, stirring constantly. Boil for 4 minutes without
 stirring.

 Remove from heat; stir in milk. Reduce heat to
 medium-low and cook until a candy thermometer reads
 238ºF/114ºC (soft-ball stage), stirring constantly.
 Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.

 Pour into prepared pan (do not scrape saucepan). Cool.
 Using foil, lift candy out of pan. Discard foil; cut
 candy into 1" squares. Wrap individually in waxed paper;
 twist ends.
