MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

     Title: Five Spice Pear Chutney
Categories: Chutneys
     Yield: 2 Cups

     3 lg Ripe pears; peeled cored,
          - coarsely chopped
     1 sm Fresh hot red chile;
          - seeded, minced
   1/2 c  Onion; minced
   1/2 c  Natural sugar
   1/2 c  Rice vinegar
   1/4 c  Golden raisins
   1/4 ts Ground allspice
   1/4 ts Ground ginger
   1/4 ts Ground coiander
   1/4 ts Ground cloves
   1/4 ts Ground cardamom

 Place all of the ingredients in a medium-size saucepan over medium
 heat and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring
 occasionally, until the pears and onion are soft and the liquid is
 syrupy, about 30 minutes.

 Remove from heat and let cool. This chutney will keep, tightly
 covered, in the refrigerator for several days. Serve at room
 temperature.
