Hi Dave,

DD> When we kept chickens, geee and guinea fowl on the farm I had to "put
DD> down" my Springer spaniel because he was raiding nests and eating
DD> eggs. I was 11 at the time. My father and grandfather both said
DD> "Your dog - your responsibility" as they handed me the rifle. That
DD> was pretty earth shaking for a young boy. And probably one of the
DD> hardest things I've ever had to do.

RH> I would imagine so, remembering the movie "Old Yeller".

DD> Never saw that movie. Nor did I watch Lassie on the boob tube. I did,
DD> however, watch Rin-Tin-Tin on a regular basis. Although I found "F
DD> Troop" more realistic.  Bv)=

Both "M*A*S*H" and "F Troop" were good at portraying what the Army was
not. "McHale's Navy" did the same for the Navy and "Gomer Pyle, USMC"
did it for the Marines. They were all fun to watch tho. BTW, did you
know that the opening scene of "Gomer" used actual Marines in the
filming? I've always thought they must have had a hard time keeping a
straight face as Gomer was being "chewed out" by Sgt Carter.

DD> Don't remember if I've posted this recently or not (senior moment)
but DD> I made a batch this weekend - the dogs all love 'em ....

DD>       Title: Dog Pooch Munchies

It's been a while since I've seen it. One of our nieces has 2 dogs; her
mom had made various treats for them while we've been visiting. IIRC,
one of the recipies uses pumpkin.

DD>   These are alleged to be "doggie treats". They will make
DD>   pretty decent "people treats" as well. -- UDD

Nothing in there I'd turn my nose up at. If it had peanut butter, as
I've seen some dog treat recipies, I'd gladly leave it to the pups.
