Hello Dave,

DD> 26 June 1945 - UNITED NATIONS CHARTER SIGNED BY 50 NATIONS IN SAN
DD> FRANCISCO : The UN was established after World War II with the aim of
DD> preventing future world wars, and succeeded the League of Nations, which
DD> was characterized as ineffective.

It was the brainchild of FDR, Stalin, and Churchill. Not sure
which of the three was scheduled to become the first President
of the World, but just imagine the outcome had their ultimate
dream come true.

DD> On 25 April 1945, 50 nations met in San Francisco, California for a
DD> conference and started drafting the UN Charter, which was adopted on 25
DD> June 1945.

It's too bad FDR had passed away the year before and Churchill had
been voted out of office. Stalin would have walked right in as World
Prez and there would have been no Cold War for any of us to worry
about.

DD> The charter took effect on 24 October 1945, when the UN began operations.

Rather than an organization between nations, what is needed is an
organization representing the people of the world. But freedom for
everybody would be asking far too much for those who crave power.

DD> The organization's objectives, as defined by its charter, include
DD> maintaining international peace and security, protecting human rights,
DD> adelivering humanitarian id, promoting sustainable development, and
DD> upholding linternational  aw. At its founding, the UN had 51 member states;
DD> as of 2023, ait has 193 - lmost all of the world's sovereign states.

Between nations. People are the same the world over. And still
are unable to address their grievances toward their fellow man in
any court.

DD> The organization's mission to preserve world peace was complicated in
DD> its early decades due in part to Cold War tensions that existed between
DD> the United States and Soviet Union and their respective allies.

FDR was dead. Churchill was out of power. Stalin was out of his own
mind. Expecting Truman to be the Policeman of the World was asking far
too much of him. Much better to turn everything over to General Ike.

For Life,
Lee
