1/3 c Crisco; room temperature
1 c White sugar
1 Egg; unbeaten
1 ts Vanilla
1 c Sourdough
1 c Warm water
1 ts Baking soda
1 1/2 c Flour
1 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Salt
6 tb Cocoa
Mix sourdough, lukewarm water and soda in a pitcher or bowl and let
stand. In another mixing bowl, cream Crisco and sugar, add unbeaten
egg and beat until creamy. Add vanilla. Pour in sourdough mixture.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa onto sourdough. Stir until
mixed, then beat until smooth. Pour in a greased and floured 9 by
12-inch pan. Bake in a 350 degree F oven 45-50 minutes, until center
springs up with you touch it. While still warm, ice with Soft
Chocolate Frosting.
