21 Novemebr 1934 - ELLA FITZGERALD WINS APOLLO'S AMATEUR NIGHT: A 17-
year-old Ella Fitzgerald goes to New York's Apollo Theater to dance on
stage for Amateur Night, but opts to sing instead. She wins the
competition with her renditions of Hoagy Carmichael's 'Judy' and the
Boswell Sisters' 'The Object of My Affection,' and an American music
legend is born.

Title: Ella's Egg Salad

Yield: 3 servings
7 lg Eggs; hardboiled. peeled
4 tb Mayonnaise
2 tb Grainy mustard
2 Sprigs (ea) dill & chives
Salt & black pepper
Roughly chop your eggs. Add them to a mixing bowl with
the mayo and mustard, stir until mixed, fold in herbs
and season with salt and pepper. Serve. Eat.
Serving suggestions: as a salad either alone or on a bed
of baby lettuce. As Ella suggests, with a spoon or on a
split baguette.
