JW> Fatburger

RH> That's one we don't have in the States.

It's actually an American company but they are located mostly in the
western states. They moved into Canada but again, only in the
west. They've been in Alberta about 15 years and in Yellowknife for
five. They have a retro 50s vibe, big thick meaty burgers (1/3 and
1/2 lb fresh, never frozen Alberta Angus beef patties), a number of
variations on loaded fries (chili cheese, nacho, poutine and
lumberjack (poutine plus maple bacon and fried onions) and good
milkshakes made with real ice cream. Everything is cooked to order.
They are more expensive than most of the other fast food places but
worth it.

EH> Cute name

It's a reference to the large thick patties.

JW>   Andy and Marian Wong, Byron II Steakhouse, Honolulu

RH> I think that's new since we came back from HI

It was a fixture for many decades and closed some time ago. Some of
their house recipes linger on thanks to the Internet.

Cheers

Jim
