Hi Bill,

RH> I should do that, don't always think to do so. We buy wheat berries in
RH> 50 pound sacks tho, and I don't have the freezer space for those. The
RH> flour that had them was some we bought at the commissary when we were
RH> stationed in HI.

BS> Dunno if you'll have a need for it...but years ago I bought 2 50lb
BS> bags of dog food that were infested.  I'd taken them home and put
BS> them into a large plastic trash can before I discovered it, took a
BS> week or so for the bugs to show.  What I did was go buy some dry ice,
BS> harder to find back in those days.  Tossed it in on top of the dog
BS> food and put the lid on.  The carbon dioxide is heavier than air so
BS> it settled and pushed the air out the top of the can.  Nothing for
BS> the bugs to breath.  My main concern was accidently knocking off the
BS> cat with any excess gas.

We put the wheat in storage buckets; I should think we'd see bugs the
next time they were opened if we had any. Never heard of using dry ice
to kill them tho.

We don't have dogs or cats, used to, and would keep their food in one of
the larger Tupperware cannisters. They hold about 4 pounds (a small bag)
of dog chow and small enough to sit on a counter top so the dog/cat
can't casually get into it. (G) This Friday afternoon into Saturday
afternoon we'll be puppy sitting our neighbor's cocker spaniel puppy;
he's about 14 months old and full of puppy energy. Should be quite an
experience! (G)

Catch you later,
