Hi Jim,

RH> My favorite way to eat grits is with scrambled eggs mixed in. Also

RH> Lots of salt, pepper and butter makes them good, also fried up as a
RH> polenta and served with shrimp. IOW, IMO, grits are good. (G)

JW> They are completely unknown in Canada. I've had them exactly twice in
JW> my life, once in Florida when they showed up unannounced beside my

I had them for the first time when I visited Steve in NC over
Thanksgiving, 1974, my senior year of college. He suggested mixing them
with my eggs (scrambled); that's how I usually eat them now. BTW, it was
on that visit that he officially proposed. (G)

JW> and eggs at breakfast at a diner, and later on when an echo guy
JW> mailed me a bag of it. The postage he paid was more than what the
JW> grits cost in the store! I did not like them at all and ended up using
JW> them in bread dough.

I usually don't keep them around because of Steve's corn allergy. I know
they're not the best, but I sometimes buy the instant grits. The box
only has a few (usually 8) packets so I don't worry about having to eat
a whole lot to use up the box/bag/whatever. Besides the eggs, I like to
mix cheese in with them, as well as salt & pepper.

Catch you later,
