People look at me funny around here when I tell them I prefer cake
doughnuts rather than yeast doughnuts.  That's what my mom made us kids
when we were young.  DD (now singular D to be cool, I guess) is my
favorite doughnut place though if I get up early, there is a local place
called Sunrise Donuts (I think that's the name) that makes handmade
doughnuts every morning that just melt in your mouth and make my
pancreas very angry. <G>

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

     Title: Merne's Nantucket Donuts
Categories: Doughnuts
     Yield: 1 Servings

     8 tb Crisco, melted
     1 c  Sugar
     3 lg Eggs
     1 c  Milk
     1 ts Salt
     4 c  Flour
     2 tb Baking powder
     1 tb Cinnamon
   1/2 ts Nutmeg
     1 ts Vanilla

 Combine dry ingredients and set aside.  Cream together melted Crisco
 and sugar.  Add eggs.  Add alternately milk, with vanilla added and
 flour mixture.  Roll to 1/4 inch thick...Fry at 365 degrees until
 golden....Shake in bag with cinnamon and sugar. Recipe By
