I asked him what they were going to call the baby when it comes. Les

It's actually a pretty decent (if "fiddly") recipe. I'd omit the beer
and cactus juice. And swap the allspice for a smaller dose of cinnamon.
Just enought the blend and enhance the other flavours. And maybe
increase the cumin and garlic a bit.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

     Title: Allegani Jani's Chilli
Categories: Beeg, Vegetables, Herbs, Chilies
     Yield: 1 championship

4 lb Stew beef, ground once
     3 lg Onions; chopped
     2 tb Oil
          Salt & pepper
     2 tb (heaping) cumin seed
     6 cl Garlic; mashed
    14 oz Can Hunt's tomatoes
     1 ts Sugar
     6 fl Oz beer
     2    Env chilli spice mix
     1 tb Mole paste *
     1 ts Tabasco sauce
     1 ts Salt
     1 qt Water
     4    Jalapeno chilies; chopped
   1/2 c  Masa flour *

 * Available in the ethnic aisle of your groacery store
 or bodega/supermercado

Brown meat and onions in oil.

 Season with salt & pepper.

Using a molcajete (a Mexican grinding tool), grind cumin
seeds and garlic with a little water.

 Add to meat.

In a blender, combine tomatoes, sugar, beer, chilli
 spice/powder.

Add to stew along with mole paste, Tabasco sauce, salt,
 water, and jalape+Xo peppers.

Cook for 2 1/2 hours, stirring well from time to time.

At the end of the cooking time, make a runny paste of
masa water, adding it to the stew to thicken it.

Stir the stew rapidly while adding the paste to keep it
 from getting lumpy.

 Cook 1/2 hour more.
