"'Unprecedented' Sriracha Sauce Shortage May Last for Months:
Huy Fong Foods Inc., has been forced to suspend production of its
iconic spicy sauces, Sriracha, Chili Garlic and Sambal Oelek, due to
a lack of chili peppers caused by several spiraling events,
including unexpected crop failure from the spring chili harvest,
due to weather conditions

Extreme weather, pandemic supply-chain snarls, Avian Flu, and
Russia's invasion of Ukraine have all taken their toll on food
production this year. Sriracha is just the latest item on a growing
list of foods in short supply around the world, which includes
chicken, popcorn, salami and fries."

I have been stocking up on chicken (and turkey) in recent weeks
whenever I come across specials and I have lots of home grown dried
chilies from last year's bumper crop. Roslind grew banana peppers
and cayennes and a friend of ours grew some habbies and ghost
peppers. We've been trading pods, grinding them and making blends.

But I'm going out tomorrow to grab a half dozen bottles of our
favourite hot sauces.
