Mines vented outside also.

Big place.  About 10 times what this place is.  But then again
Anchorage only has about 300K people here.  Some of the locals refer
to it as Los Anchorage.  Then again sometimes they refer to the people
who are from Homer, a small fishing place on the Kenai, as Homeroids.
Homer is actually a gorgeous place.  My niece is coming up on the 21st
and I've got a short cruise scheduled for the Kachemak Bay for us,
along with a fly in to a glacier in a floatplane a couple of days
later.

Walking, check.  Cane, check.  Rollators...called walkers around here.
Electric scooters, haven't seen any.  I suspect our halls are to narrow
for them.  This is a senior living co-op, if people need lots of
assistance they hire their own.  Or there's an assisted living place
just down the hill, no pun intended*.  Up by the laundry room, there's
a half dozen free machines on each floor for the folks who don't have a
setup in their condo, there's a small room which contains assorted
wheelchairs/crutches/canes/walkers for the taking.  When I was looking
to move out of the house this was the only place I could find in
Anchorage specifically setup for seniors that wasn't an assisted
living place.

*Just outside of Las Vegas on the old highway to Boulder City there's
a stop light with 2 signs.  One points up hill and says
"Veterans Home".  The other points downhill and, in somewhat dark
humor, says "Veterans Cemetery".

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

     Title: Making Croutons
Categories: Salad, Bread
     Yield: 1 Batch

     1    Recipe

Trim the crusts from leftover slices of bread.  I freeze left over
heels from my ABM bread, so this is a way of using up the less
marvelous breads I make. (leave some crust on, if you are adventurous
)  Any kind/or mix of breads, but sweet breads aren't so hot.  Spread
the slices with butter or margarine (melting the stuff first and
brushing it on works nice), and cut into 1/2 inch cubes.

Put the cubes on a rimmed baking sheet, and sprinkle them with garlic
powder and Italian seasoning.   Bake in a 350 F oven for 25-30
minutes. Turn 'em and stir 'em once or twice.  Store in a covered
 container, in the 'fridge.

Yes, I <have>> done this, all you non-believers.  The above is my
wording of what I learned in Bread Machine Magic, by Linda Rehberg
 and Lois Conway.

 Variations, from Bread Machine Magic:

0  Use dried dill instead of Italian seasoning.
0  Sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese before baking.
0  Leave out butter and garlic powder, put a little minced garlic
in some olive oil and drizzle it (love that word) on before
    baking.
0  You can also melt some butter/oleo in a skillet, add seasonings
and cubes, and saute to a golden brown (instead of using an oven.)

But it uses a lot more butter.
